Billy Siever Obituary

Billy J. Siever, age 84 of Carlyle, passed away at the Carlyle Healthcare Center on Sunday, February 24, 2019.

 

Mr. Siever was born on October 30, 1934, in Breese, Illinois, a son of the late Julius A. and Mildred (Conwell) Siever.  He married Lelah R. Petrea in Salem, Illinois on September 20, 1959, and she survives in Carlyle. 

 

In addition to his wife Lelah, Mr. Siever is also survived by a daughter – Lisa Clatterbuck and husband James of Breese; a son – Mark Siever and wife Natale of Carlyle; 3 grandchildren – Allye Wuest and special friend Grant Boehne, Morgan Siever and friend Christopher Meuth, and Tyler Siever; a sister – Helen M. Fee of Oswego; and his sisters-in-law – Margie Mulvaney of Salem, Arletha Petrea of Salem, Vivian Petrea of Iuka, and Nora Graham of Wichita, Kansas. 

 

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister – Virginia Siever, and his brothers-in-law – Richard Fee, Bernard Mulvaney, Earl H. Petrea, Robert D. Petrea, and Gary R. Petrea. 

 

Mr. Siever was a 1952 graduate of Carlyle High School and attended Southern Illinois University – Carbondale.  In 1953, he returned home to Carlyle and began his career at the family automotive business, Siever Brothers, Inc.  Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle, a 61-year member of Scott Lodge 79 A.F. & A.M., a member of Anaid Shrine, and had served in the United States Army Reserves.  When Mr. Siever wasn’t at the garage, he was coaching youth sports or following his grandchildren’s activities.  Bill was an avid Cardinals baseball fan and had the honor of throwing the first pitch at a game at Busch Stadium.  

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M.  on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle, with Rev. Steve Barrett, officiating.  Interment will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Friday, March 1 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. 

 

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Siever are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children, the Carlyle Healthcare Center Activities Fund, or to Hospice of Southern Illinois – Orange North Team.
