Dorothy M. Brown

Dorothy M. Brown, age 86 of Beckemeyer, passed away at Breese Nursing Home on Thursday, August 22, 2019. 

Mrs. Brown was born in Wade Township on December 20, 1932, a daughter of Joseph and Mary (nee Roberg) Langhauser.  She married Maurice “Bud” Brown at St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer on August 5, 1952, and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1991. 

Dorothy is survived by a daughter – Marilyn Diekemper and husband Raymond, Jr. of Carlyle; a son – Marlin Brown and wife Myra of Beckemeyer; a daughter-in-law – Marilyn Brown of Breese; her grandchildren – Michelle Leslie and husband Matt, Melissa Kleine and husband Aaron, Craig Diekemper and wife Michele, Michael Diekemper and wife Megan, Brian Diekemper and wife Amy, Jared Brown and friend Tori Null, and Kate Brown and fiancé Michael Stroot; her great grandchildren – Hannah and Maya Leslie, Jace and Aiden Kleine, Kayla Conrad, Alyssa Kleine, Madyson, McKenzie and Maggie Diekemper, Case and Jaxon Diekemper, Sadie and Kassidy Diekemper, and Ella Brown; a sister – Lorene “Dolly” Jansen and husband Jerome of Carlyle; a brother – Bob Langhauser and wife Edna of Highland; her sisters-in-law – Bernadine Kehres and Pat Kehres, both of Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son – Ralph J. Brown on December 26, 2015; and her in-laws – Walt and Frances Kehres, Art Kehres, Warren Kehres, and Francis Kehres. 

Mrs. Brown graduated from St. Mary’s High School and worked at Moran Shoe Factory and later as a housekeeper.  In 1964, her family moved to a farm and were dairy farmers for many years.  Dorothy also drove a school bus for 20 years.  She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer, St. Anthony’s Altar Sodality, and the B.C.D.C.  Dorothy enjoyed quilting and working in her garden. 

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 26, 2019, at St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer with Fr. Chuck Tuttle, officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle on Sunday, August 25, 2019, from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. and on Monday, August 26, 2019, from 9:00 – 10:30 A.M.
