Jean M. (Peters) Martin

Jean (Peters) Martin passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family on Monday October 28, 2019, at her home in St Charles, Missouri.

Jean was born on June 28, 1960, a daughter of Vince and Ruth (Seiffert) Peters.  She was raised in Carlyle Illinois and was a 1978 graduate of Carlyle High School.  At CHS, Jean was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. She attended Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and was active in many extracurricular activities. She worked at Haberstroh Insurance for over 30 years as a loyal and very dependable employee. Jean was an active member of her church and was dedicated to always assisting in any capacity needed. She loved the outdoors, biking, playing bunko, taking walks, book club, volunteering, yoga, dancing, playing cards with her mother, simple pleasures and mostly spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest pride was her two children Paige and Kyle that she loved unconditionally.

Jean is survived by her spouse, Daniel Altepeter; her children, Paige (Josh) Baur and Kyle Martin, all of St Charles; her mother, Ruth Peters of Carlyle; her siblings, Steve (Nancy) Peters of Highland, Susie Rakers of Carlyle, Sandy (Tony) Manfucci of Carlyle, Kurt (Tara) Peters of Aviston, and Tina (Jeff) Lampe of Germantown; many nieces and nephews; 2 stepdaughters, 2 grandsons, and many loving friends.

She was preceded in death by infant sister, Angie; her father, Vince Peters, and her father-in-law, Arthur “Art” Altepeter.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral and Cremation Center, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St. Charles, MO, and from 4:00-8:00 PM at Friday, November 1, 2019, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle, and on Saturday, November 2, 2019, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle. 

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, memorial donations are suggested to Making Strides.  Donations will be received through Zieren Funeral Home.
