Joyce A. Claypool

Joyce A. Claypool, age 68 of Carlyle, passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon on Monday, July 1, 2019.

Mrs. Claypool was born in Breese on July 11, 1950, a daughter of Marvin and Mildred (nee Cruth) Guthrie.  She married Dewayne Claypool in Reno, Nevada on May 31, 2004, and he preceded her in death on November 26, 2004. 

Joyce is survived by her children – Bobby Reynolds and wife Lornie of the Philippines, Beth Schubel and husband Keith of Pocahontas, and B.J. Buck and wife Lynn of Carlyle; her grandchildren – Ashley, Ivan and Ethan Reynolds, Maranda Harris, Kylie, Chase and Ali Schubel, and Conner and Carter Buck; a sister – Donna Rolfingsmeyer and husband Ron of Carlyle and a brother – Richard Guthrie and wife Marianne of Carlyle.  Joyce is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Marvin and Mildred Guthrie and her husband, Dewayne Claypool. 

Joyce enjoyed helping others through her work as a home health aide.   She was a member of Carlyle Christian Church, and she loved playing the piano. 

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Carlyle Christian Church with Pastor Josh Wolford, officiating.  Interment will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Zieren Funeral Home, and from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the Carlyle Christian Church. 

In lieu of other gifts, expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Claypool are suggested to her family.  Donations will be received through Zieren Funeral Home.
