Matthew Kuhl Obituary

Matthew Henry Kuhl, 89 of Carlyle, passed away at Breese Nursing Home on Sunday, November 18, 2018. 

 

Mr. Kuhl was born in Beckemeyer, Illinois on February 24, 1929, a son of Joseph and Mary (Voss) Kuhl.  He married Marilyn Imming on June 30, 1962, in Aviston, Illinois and she preceded him in death on December 5, 2009. 

 

Matt retired from the United States Post Office in Carlyle as a rural mail carrier for over 40 years.  He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps and was also a member of St. Mary’s Church and the American Legion, Post 1227, Beckemeyer. 

 

Mr. Kuhl is survived by his 3 daughters – Lori Beckemeyer and husband Daniel, Lisa Knuf and husband Thomas, and Krista Mason and husband James; a son – David Kuhl and wife Rebecca; 12 grandchildren – Abbey (Joel) McIntyre, Arielle Beckemeyer, Audra Beckemeyer (special friend Matt Spears), Ashley Knuf (special friend Zack Dawson), Anthony Knuf (special friend Lauren Smith), Allison Knuf (special friend Will Weir), Mindy (Shannon) Cooney, Jamie Lohr, Sophie Kuhl (special friend Blake Beckmann), Natalie (Mark) Haag, Dana (Kyle) Wiegmann, and Samantha (Garrett) Schrage; 8 great grandchildren – Posie Cooney, John Cooney, Marlie Haag, Max Haag, Nora Haag, Henry Haag, Aislee Wiegmann, and Barrett Wiegmann; a very special friend – Patty James; his in-laws – Ruth Blumenstein and husband Ray and Paul Kerkemeyer; and many dear nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; a sister – Florence Loepker and husband Charles; his in-laws – Arlene Lochridge and husband Robert, Dolores Rakers and husband Charles, and Marge Kerkemeyer.
