Nancy Huels, age 82 of Carlyle, passed away at her home on Saturday, December 22, 2018.
Mrs. Huels was born in St. Louis on September 24, 1936, a daughter of William and Genevieve (Guedry) Hennessy. She married Edward J. Huels, Sr. in St. Louis on November 21, 1959, and he survives in Carlyle.
In addition to her husband Edward, Nancy is also survived by her children – Gene Huels and wife Bonnie of Carlyle, John Huels and wife Valerie of Bartonville, Illinois, Lori Nottmeyer and husband Eldean of Mattoon, Illinois, Vicki Riley and husband Pat of Carlyle, Joseph Huels and wife Julie of Carlyle, Gail Shriver and husband Todd of Reynolds, Indiana, Gary Huels and wife Angie of Austin, Texas, and Edward Huels, Jr. and wife Antoinette of Union, Missouri; 24 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and her in-laws – Rita Huels and Betty Huels, both of Carlyle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister – Mary Van Norman and husband Robert; and her in-laws – Sr. Joette Huels, P.H.J.C., Olive Becker and husband Edward, Louis Huels, Paul Huels and wife Aggie, Carl Huels Sr. and wife Helen, Catherine Von Hatten and husband Adolph, and Matthew Huels.
Mrs. Huels was a member of St. Mary’s Church, and had been a member of St. Theresa’s Church in Marydale. She was a registered nurse and worked for Clinton County and the Carlyle Healthcare Center. She also worked on the family farm for over 30 years. Nancy enjoyed reading and loved to spend time with her family. She was an animal lover who will be dearly missed by her dogs, Sophie and Sammy.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck, celebrant. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle on Wednesday, December 26, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday morning from 8:00 – 10:00 A.M.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Huels are suggested to HSHS Hospice or to the wishes of the family and will be received at Zieren Funeral Home.
