Ron Rolfingsmeyer, age 71 of Carlyle, passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon on Sunday, July 28, 2019.
Mr. Rolfingsmeyer was born in Breese on September 23, 1947, a son of Christopher and June (Crisel) Rolfingsmeyer. He married Donna Guthrie on September 21, 1968, at the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle and she survives in Carlyle.
In addition to his wife Donna, Ron is also survived by a daughter – Tina Klasing and friend David of Carlyle; a son – Kevin Rolfingsmeyer and wife Holly of Carlyle; and his grandchildren – Kyle Klasing and wife Heather, and Christopher, Nathan, and Ella Rolfingsmeyer. Ron was anticipating the arrival of his first great grandson, Koen. Mr. Rolfingsmeyer is also survived by his sister – Lynn Hongsermeier and husband Tim of Collinsville; his brothers – John Rolfingsmeyer and wife Marie of Ridge Manor, Florida and Gary Rolfingsmeyer and wife Karen of Carlyle; a brother-in-law – Richard Guthrie and wife Marianne of Carlyle, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rolfingsmeyer was preceded in death by his parents – Christopher and June Rolfingsmeyer; his mother-and father-in-law – Marvin and Mildred Guthrie; a nephew – Jason Rolfingsmeyer; and a sister-in-law – Joyce Claypool and husband Dewayne.
Mr. Rolfingsmeyer worked for the city of Carlyle for 42 years, retiring as foreman of the Street and Alley Department. He joined the Carlyle Volunteer Fire Department in 1970 and served for 49 years as a fireman and later as a trustee. Ron loved the outdoors and spending time with his family fishing, hunting, trapping, and going to the clubhouse. He also enjoyed playing cards and he looked forward to the Monday night card game at the marina. Ron was a member of the Carlyle Christian Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Josh Wolford, officiating. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday prior to the service from 8:00 – 11:00 A.M.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Rolfingsmeyer are suggested to the Carlyle Christian Church and will be received at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle.
