Setsuko “Susie” Robbins, age 86 of Keyesport, passed away at her home on Saturday, October 19, 2019.
Mrs. Robbins was born in Naha, Okinawa on February 24, 1933. She married Jerry Robbins in Okinawa in 1963 and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her partner of 32 years, Clarence “Butch” Townsend who passed away on February 25, 2017. Susie loved playing bingo and pinochle, and she also enjoyed shopping and dining out.
Mrs. Robbins is survived by her daughters – Linda Durham and husband John of Keyesport and Debbie Rhyne of Bethalto; her grandchildren – Melannie Durham and partner Danny Schuster, Elizabeth Wintermann and husband Shawn, Eileen Durham, Terry Wayne Rhyne and wife April, Jason Rhyne, Jerry Rhyne, and Dawn Rhyne; and her great grandchildren – Abby and Ethan Stahlhuth, Lexi Wintermann, Grace Nordike, Everett Voss, Chyane, Dalton, Gavin, Paiton, and Skylyn. Susie is also survived by Clarence Townsend’s children and grandchildren and her special friends – Doug Thompson and Sonya Wrone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law – Terry Rhyne; and a great granddaughter – Madison Stahlhuth in 2001.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. The family will greet relatives and friends at Zieren Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.
