Shirley Hermsmeyer

Shirley Rose Hermsmeyer, age 83, formerly of Carlyle, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri.  

Mrs. Hermsmeyer was born in Pocahontas, Illinois on January 10, 1936, a daughter of Ernest and Eliza (Brown) Langel.  She married Wilbert E. "Wib" Hermsmeyer at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ferrin on October 22, 1955, and he preceded her in death on June 24, 2014.  

Mrs. Hermsmeyer is survived by her sons - Michael T. Hermsmeyer and wife Kelly of Branson, Missouri and Jon Hermsmeyer and wife Sarah of Atlanta, Georgia; a son-in-law - Darrell R. Holsapple and wife Joyce of Hoffman; her grandchildren - Noah and Audrey Hermsmeyer, and Darrell Ray Holsapple; and her in-laws – Betty Langel, and Edwin and Verdell Hermsmeyer. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Hermsmeyer was preceded in death by a daughter - Cheryl A. Holsapple in 2011; and 4 brothers – Eldon Langel and wife Lucille, Floyd Langel, Delmar Langel and wife Joan, and Doris Langel and wife Ruth.

Shirley was a lifelong house and farm wife, mother and grandmother. She also served as town clerk for Meridian Township in Clinton County for over thirty years. Mrs. Hermsmeyer was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church since she married Wilbert in 1955.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ferrin with Pastor Jonathan Jennings, officiating.  Interment will follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Ferrin.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Zieren Funeral Home, and on Friday, July 26, 2019, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
