Arlene Lopez, 93, passed peacefully to meet her beloved dance partner, Ralph Lopez on Thursday, October 26th.
Arlene has lived happily the last two years at Brightly Senior Living in Glen Carbon, Illinois to be closer to her immediate family. She was an active participant in all the great activities as well as a loved member of their community.
Prior to that she lived her whole life in Carlyle on her family farm where she and Ralph raised three kids. She is survived by all three.
Mitch and Bob Meyers of Glen Carbon, Craig Lopez of Florissant and Mike and Connie Lopez of Godfrey. She also has three grandchildren, Zack and Abbey Meyers and Jordan Lopez. She had 1 great-grandson, James Lopez.
Arlene remained close to her sister, Dorsey Guenzburger of Carlyle and dear friends Edna Woltering and Melinda Hutchinson.
Arlene was a member of the United Church of Christ. She and Ralph were world travelers and had friends all over the country. She was a “wicked bridge player” and loved to golf, sew and knit. She was also an outstanding cook and loved entertaining friends and family. She was world-famous for her breads and pies, especially her garlic bread and yeast rolls. She was always up for a party, especially when it involved her family. She left a proud legacy and will be celebrated and missed by all who knew her.
Arlene’s family will greet family and friends at Zieren Funeral Home on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Lopez are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
