Harold was united in Marriage to Carol Allen on July 6, 1957, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle, Illinois. To this union four children were born, Cindy, Bob, Teresa, and Norma.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Carol, of Salem, Missouri. Children; Cindy McMahan and husband Bill of Marthasville, Missouri, Bob Strotheide and wife Kris of Carlyle, Illinois, Teresa Schaaf and husband Dave of Breese, Illinois, Norma Von Bokel, and husband Glen of Carlyle, Illinois. Brother, John Strotheide of Salem, Missouri. Grandchildren; Emily McMahan, Rebekkah McMahan, Sarah and Steven Willis, Seth Strotheide and friend Sarah, Cara Strotheide and friend Chris, Cole Strotheide, Jennifer Akers, Aaron Von Bokel and Taylor, Curt Von Bokel and Jeralyn, Brett Von Bokel and Lindsey, Erika Von Bokel, Chad Von Bokel, Allison Von Bokel, and 22 Great Grandchildren. Sisters in law, Virginia Flamm of Smithboro, Illinois, Jean Andrews of Mt. Olive, Illinois, brother-in-law Stanley Allen and wife Jennie of Greenville, Illinois. Many extended family and friends.
Harold was an enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served 4 years of active duty and 3 years of service in the inactive reserves. He started his time in Great Lakes Illinois, then he went to Norman, Oklahoma, Memphis, Tennessee, Moffett field, California, and Hutchinson, Kansas. He spent the last 30 years of service at Scott Air Force Base in the active reserves. He gave his all. He was a retired volunteer fire fighter for 37 years, 17 years with Wheatfield Fire Department- Carlyle and 20 years with Jadwin Fire Department. He truly was a great man who served his country faithfully, as well as his community firefighters and friends. The love he had for his family had no boundaries and his memory will give them comfort until they meet again.
Harold was preceded in death his parents Frank and Helen Strotheide, father and mother-in-law George and Edith Gruner Allen, sister Norma Sue Fraser, grandson, Travis McMahan, sister-in-law, Joy Allen, brothers-in-law, George Manny Allen, Don Corky Allen, Don Andrews, Melvin Bud Flamn, and Harry Bug Frazer.
Funeral Services for Harold Strotheide will be Wednesday October 18, 2023, at 12:00 pm at the Salem Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-12. Illinois service will be Thursday at Zieren Funeral home in Carlyle, Illinois at 12:00 p.m., with visitation prior from 10:00 am until service time of 12:00 pm with burial to follow at St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery Carlyle, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to Three Rivers Hospice, Jadwin Fire Department or Salem Lutheran Church.
