Irma Bach Obituary

Irma C. Bach, age 95 of Carlyle, passed away at Caring First Nursing Home in Breese on Sunday, October 25, 2020.

 

Mrs. Bach was born in Shattuc, Illinois on January 17, 1925, a daughter of William and Ida (nee Oexemann) Stein.  She married Paul J. Bach on September 13, 1943, at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2005.

 

Mrs. Bach is survived by her children – Pat Herrin (Gary ) of Kell, IL, Sandra Bach-Savoy of Ruskin, FL, Kevin Bach (Sandy) of Woodlawn, and Duane Bach (Betty) of Carlyle; a daughter-in-law – JoAnn Bach of Makanda, IL; her grandchildren – Amy Hooten, Jennifer Robinson, Colin Bach, Michelle Depew, Melissa Bach, Curt Bach, Ryan Bach, Douglas Bach, Kenny Dagg, and Tiffany Irwin; her great grandchildren – Drew, Jess, and Elle Pierson, Alyssa and Alex Hooten, Preston and Marshall Robinson, Connor and Zachary Bach, Dominic Newcomb, Harriet Bach, Naelyn and Flint Depew, Emma Bach, Serinity and Deakon Dagg; and 2 great great grandchildren – Poppy and Vivia. 

 

Irma was preceded in death by her parents – William and Ida Stein; her husband, Paul J. Bach; 2 sons – Dennis Bach and Kenneth Bach; a granddaughter – Rebecca Pierson; a sister – Norma Burtz; and 3 brothers – Elmer, Richard, and Martin Stein. 

 

Mrs. Bach was an exceptional cook and baker who would make a meal for anyone at her home or whip up some cookies, a cake, or a pie to send home with a friend.  She was also a talented embroider who enjoyed needlepoint and sewing.  Irma was a member of St. Mary’s Church and St. Ann Altar Sodality, and was also active in the Carlyle V.F.W. Auxiliary.  In addition to her role as a homemaker and farm wife, Irma also worked at the Carlyle Shoe Factory, Carlyle Laundry, and the Carlyle Healthcare Center. 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church. 

 

In lieu of other gifts, the family suggests donations in her memory to St. Mary’s Church, Breese Nursing Home, or the charity of your choice.  Memorial donations will be received through Zieren Funeral Home, PO Box 276, Carlyle, IL 62231.
