James “Butch” Biggs, age 75 of Carlyle, died at his home on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
Mr. Biggs was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, on January 23, 1945, a son of the late Tom and Gertrude (Stevens) Biggs. He married Janet Burgess on October 20, 1962, and she survives in Carlyle.
In addition to his wife Janet, Mr. Biggs is also survived by his children – James Biggs and wife Lisa, Tina McCarty and husband Tom, and Victoria Hagen, all of Carlyle; and 7 grandchildren – James A. Biggs, Jr., Troy Lee Biggs, Thomas McCarty, Jr., Jeremy McCarty, Zachary McCarty, Hannah McCarty, and Shelby Lois Hagen. Butch was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first great grandchild in December. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, in-laws, and his beloved dog, Rex
In addition to his parents, Mr. Biggs was preceded in death by 2 sisters – Sylvia White and Margie Robuck; and 2 brothers – J.D. Biggs and Billy Biggs.
Mr. Biggs was a member of the Bear’s Club in Centralia and he enjoyed music and working in his yard. He previously worked at the Missouri Athletic Club and at Watlow Electric.
A Funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle. Interment will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon. Please wear a face mask if you are able to, follow social distance recommendations, and refrain from handshakes and hugs.
