Jerome “Jerry” VanAtter, 77 of Carlyle passed away on Wednesday, May 20, at his home.
Jerry was born on April 27, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, son of Jerome and Louise VanAtter. He married Carol Fay VanAtter and she survives.
He is survived by his wife and caregiver, children – Tammy VanAtter of Carlyle, Mark and wife Angel VanAtter of Tulsa, and Tom and wife Roseanne VanAtter of Carlyle, granddaughters – Megan and Madison VanAtter of Carlyle, brother – Billy and wife Ruth VanAtter, and sisters – Sandy Brickley and Phyllis Santel and husband Hank.
He was preceded in death by his parents – Jerome and Louise VanAtter.
Jerry enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, and coaching little leagues. Jerry retired after 30 years at General Motors. He enjoyed all sports but loved to watch Cardinal Baseball. After he retired, he enjoyed watching the birds eat from the bird feeders outside his window.
