Leo A. Guenzburger

Leo Guenzburger, age 89, died peacefully at Carlyle Healthcare Center on July 18, 2020.  He was born on November 7th, 1930 in St. Louis, MO to Arthur and Regina Guenzburger.  Leo is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorsey Prasuhn Guenzburger, Mark and Karen Guenzburger (son and daughter-in-law), Todd Guenzburger and William Kline (son and son-in-law), and grandsons Dylan and Jared Guenzburger, Arlene Lopez (sister-in-law),  and Adilson Delatorre and family (exchange student and family).  He was preceded in death by Frank and Nettie Kahn (maternal grandparents), Arthur and Regina Guenzburger (parents), Jack and Frieda Guenzburger  (brother and sister-in-law), Harold and Myrtle Prasuhn (father and mother-in-law), Ralph Lopez (brother-in-law), Sharon Wade and John T. Mount (sister and brother-in-law) and Arthur Silver and Marian Eisinberg (cousins).   

Leo lived in St. Louis and moved to Carlyle after his marriage.  He worked as a financial estate planner and life insurance agent and served in the United States Air Force.   He was passionate about scouting from childhood and served as a local scout master for years.  In addition to himself, both his sons and grandsons achieved the rank of Eagle.  His favorite activities included eating his wife’s excellent cooking, supporting his children and grandchildren’s interests, gardening, and helping his father-in-law and friends (Krebs brothers) on the farm.  

The family would like to particularly thank the heroes of Carlyle Healthcare Center for their outstanding bravery, dedication, and caring service in this time of national health crisis.  They would also like to express their gratitude to Edna Woltering and Celtic (Residential) hospice for their long-time support and caring, as well as all the friends and family who have supported them on this journey.  

Memorial donations can be made to Carlyle Healthcare Center or to the Memory and Aging Project at Washington University in St. Louis.  A private celebration of life will be held in the future when it is safe to congregate.
