Marilyn Michael

Marilyn L. Michael, 85, of Carlyle died on Friday, November 20, 2020, at the Villa Catherine Assisted Living, Carlyle, Illinois.

She was born on February 23, 1935, in Breese, daughter of Edward and Mary (Kleiboeker) Vogel.  She married Elmer H. “Bud” Michael on June 23, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman and he preceded her in death on July 17, 2003.

She is survived by three sons, Neal and wife Roxanne of Collinsville, Lyle Michael and wife Joy and Noel Michael and wife Christie, all of Centralia, eight grandchildren Jacob, Clinton (wife Kala), Austin, Morgan, Reid, Landon and Kali Michael, and Hana Murphy (husband Sean), sister Arlene Palm (William), sister-in-law Agnes Walther, and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Vogel, sisters-in-law Elinor (William) Boehne, Esther (Wilbert) Lueking, Bernice Michael, and brother-in-law Paul Walther.

Marilyn was a retired homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother.  She worked side by side with her husband Bud on the dairy farm and was definitely his right hand.  She was very proud of her dairy cows and the dairy farm they built together.  

Marilyn was a passionate Christian who was very enthusiastic about Trinity Lutheran Church of Hoffman.  She served this church in many ways including Sunday School Teacher, the Ladies Aid (where she held numerous offices) and the Trinity Lutheran Church 125th Anniversary Celebration.  Mom was the most kind and generous person that you would ever want to encounter.  She would help you in a moment’s notice.  We know she is now in her room in God’s House.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman.  Private Services will be held at the church following the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Grade School of Hoffman, Christ Our Rock High School, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Memorials will be accepted at the Church or through Zieren Funeral Home, PO Box 276, Carlyle, IL 62231.
