Peggy J. Lester

Peggy J. Lester (Adkins), age 75, of Carlyle, Illinois (formerly of Columbus, Ohio), passed away peacefully Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Carlyle Senior Living Facility.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. “Dick” Lester; her parents David F. and Roberta Adkins; her brothers David E. “Davey”, Richard D. “Dicky”, James S. “Jimbo”; and her sister Brenda L. Adkins. Loving mother of Michael G. (Kim) Friend of Grove City, Ohio and Mark D. (Trina) Friend of Trenton, Illinois.

She is survived by sisters Rebecca S. Justus and Mary M. (Denny) McGrath both of Columbus, Ohio; sister-in-laws Donna M. Becker, Karen S. Adkins and Peggy A. Adkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren that she treasured and that referred to her as Gammaw/Mamaw: Logan, Michael, Charis, Ally, and Kyla Friend.

Peggy was a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous, having gained her sobriety in October 1987 (37 years ago). She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, reading, gardening, crafting and scrapbooking.

Celebration of Life Memorial Service: Friday, April 26 2024 from 2:30-3:30 pm at Sunset Cemetery Mausoleum, 6959 W. Broad Street, Galloway, Ohio 43119.
