Roger Kottmeyer Obituary

Roger Kottmeyer, age 71 of Boulder, passed away at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis on Sunday, August 11, 2019.

 

Mr. Kottmeyer was born in Centralia, Illinois on September 30, 1947, a son of Arthur F. and Elda C. (Reinkensmeier) Kottmeyer.  He married Georgine Behrman on September 6, 1969, at St. Ann Church in Nashville and she preceded him in death on December 10, 1992. 

 

Mr. Kottmeyer is survived by his two sons – Matt Kottmeyer and wife Tracy of Mt. Vernon, and Mike Kottmeyer of Carlyle; two sisters – Elaine Hassell and husband Doug and Shirley Campbell and husband Dale, all of Hoyleton; and a sister-in-law – Margaret Kottmeyer of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. 

 

In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Kottmeyer was preceded in death by 2 brothers – Wayne A. Kottmeyer and David Kottmeyer.

 

Mr. Kottmeyer graduated from Nashville High School and continued his education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.  He then earned a master’s degree at Eastern Illinois University and taught junior high science at Carlyle Community Unit School District #1.  Mr. Kottmeyer enjoyed attending his sons’ sporting events and was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved working with his dogs and enjoyed raising, training, and field trials with his Labrador Retrievers and beagles.

 

Private services will be held.

 

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Kottmeyer are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children and will be received through Zieren Funeral Home.
