Ruby Beckemeyer

Ruby Beckemeyer, age 92 of Carlyle, died on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, Illinois. 

Mrs. Beckemeyer was born in Bond County, Illinois on March 19, 1928, a daughter of William and Clara (Schubert) Hediger.  She married Alvin A. Beckemeyer on April 20, 1954, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Carlyle.  He preceded her in death on October 20, 2008. 

Ruby is survived by her children – Deb Schaubert and husband Dennis of Shattuc, Larry Beckemeyer and wife Betty of Carlyle, Kevin Beckemeyer and wife Jeannie of Marion, and Randy Beckemeyer and wife Sue of Highland; 10 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 10 step great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; her siblings – Earl Hediger, Lucille Zimmerman, Ethel Reymond, Irene Wegman, Elva Johnson, Loyd Hediger, and Orville Hediger; and her in-laws – Loretta and Elmer “Bud” Dorries, Wayne and JoAgnes Beckemeyer, Calvin and Marilyn Beckemeyer, Robert Beckemeyer, Herbert and Ruth Beckemeyer, Clinton and Mary Ann Beckemeyer, Geneva Beckemeyer, and Wilma Beckemeyer. 

Mrs. Beckemeyer was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ.  She and Alvin volunteered in many roles at the church.  In their younger years, they enjoyed dancing with friends and traveling. 

All services will be private, and Mrs. Beckemeyer will be laid to rest at Carlyle Township Cemetery.  In lieu of other gifts, the family suggests donations in Ruby’s memory to Immanuel United Church of Christ in Carlyle or to the American Heart Association.
