Stanley Bach Obituary

Stanley P. Bach, age 84 of Carlyle, passed away at St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, Missouri on December 18, 2019. 

 

Mr. Bach was born in Bartelso on November 10, 1935, a son of Leo and Regina (Gebke) Bach.  He married Janet Dierkes on April 19, 1958, at St. Boniface Church in Germantown and she survives in Carlyle. 

 

In addition to his wife of 61 years, Janet, Stanley is also survived by his children – Brenda Woker and husband Dave, and Linda Woker and husband Jim, all of Carlyle; Janice Hilmes and husband Randy, Marcia Hilmes, and Jackie Hilmes and husband Alan, all of Breese; and Steve Bach and wife Cheryl of Pocahontas; 23 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and Stanley was anticipating the arrival of 3 more great grandchildren.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; a brother – Elmer Bach of Belleville; and his in-laws – John and Carolyn Santel of New Baden, Marita Hilmes of Germantown, Steve and Patricia Reed of Pacific, Missouri; Leroy and Phyllis Dierkes of Plainfield, Indiana; Menard and Shirley Etter of Carlyle, Chuck and Diane Albers of Germantown, Joann Sellers of Germantown, and Kathy Rakers of Posey. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents – Leo and Regina Bach; a son-in-law – Daniel Hilmes; a sister – Dorothy Mae Bach; a brother – Gary Bach; and his in-laws – Patricia Bach, George and Leona Dierkes, Donald Dierkes, Gene Hilmes, Joseph Rakers, and Richard Sellers. 

 

Mr. Bach was a farmer and foreman at Alton Box Board.  He also worked as a feed and seed salesman for many years.  Stanley served as a Wheatfield Township trustee and supervisor for 34 years and was a member of the board of Carlyle North Water for 25 years.  Mr. Bach was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle, a member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau, and a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 1382, Carlyle.  Stanley enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, tinkering in his sheds, and spending time with his family.  He also enjoyed taking four-wheeler rides with his dog, Tilly, and watching and feeding birds. 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 23, 2019, at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle, with Fr. George Mauck, celebrant.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.   Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Sunday, December 22, from 2:00 – 6:00 PM and on Monday morning from 8:00 – 10:30 AM. 

 

In lieu of other gifts, expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Bach are suggested to Wheatfield Fire Department, St. Mary’s Church, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Donations will be received through Zieren Funeral Home.
