William F. Winter

William F. Winter, age 88, left his earthly home under hospice care with family at his side in Overland, Missouri on Monday, May 11, 2020, to be with his Heavenly Father. 

Beloved husband of Eliza L. (nee Swofford) Winter of 64 years; loving father of Patricia Palmen (Steve) of O’Fallon, Missouri, Sheryl Hartke of St. Ann, Missouri, Elaine Petersen of Tinley Park, Illinois, Marilyn Loreth (Timothy) of Hazelwood, Missouri, William C. Winter of Apollo Beach, Florida, and Robert Winter (Ashleigh) of Apollo Beach, Florida; cherished grandfather of 17 grandchildren and great grandfather of 16 great grandchildren; and man’s best friend of Max and Gracie.  He is also survived by his brothers, Ralph Winter (Marie) of St. Peter, Missouri, Carl Winter (Maria) of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Don Winter of Sullivan, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William G. and Catherine (nee Hawkins) Winter of Pagedale, Missouri, and a brother, Bobby Winter. 

William was honored to have served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He worked at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing in St. Louis and retired after 35 years of devoted employment.  William was a member of the United Aerospace Workers Union Local 837, and he attended Lackland Road Baptist Church in Overland.  He enjoyed gardening fruit vines and trees, vegetable gardening, his perennial flowers, and rose and peony bushes. 

Private services will be held at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.  Interment with military honors will follow at McKendree Chapel Cemetery near Keyesport, Illinois.  A Celebration of Life service will take place at a later date.
