William D. “Bill” Wysocki, age 87, of Carlyle, passed away May 23, 2021 surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
He was born January 21, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Leo and Marian Wysocki. William was a graduate of University of Detroit Jesuit High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Washington University in St. Louis. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Bill was an accountant for 66 years, working for Arthur Young & Co., Ernst & Young and Horizon CPA Services, as well as his own company Wysocki & Co. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Carlyle.
He married his bride, Sherry Joan Meier, on November 24, 1955. They celebrated 65 years of marriage. While raising his family, Bill loved to go sailing. Though it didn't always end well, many laughs and memories were made. His bride introduced him to the St. Louis Cardinals and he quickly became an avid fan, attending many games with his family. He had a special relationship with his great-grandchildren and even attended every dance recital possible. He loved cherry cordial ice cream, golf, books, chess, and Clint Eastwood movies. He also loved accounting and had one of the strongest work ethics known.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sherry Wysocki; his children, Kevin, Michael (Terri), Thomas (Martha), Lisa, David, Julia (Victor), Stephen, and Robert; his grandchildren, Vince (Catherine), Chris (Allison), Nick (Amy), Joshua (Jennifer), Teresa (Jaried), Jenni Wysocki-Gaither, Joey (Kara) and Thomas (Danielle); his great-grandchildren, Brittany, Tony, Jackson, Luke, Ava, Nolan, Lucy, Jalen, Makenna, Gregory, Devin, Maleah, Bella, Maverick, and Caroline; and his sisters, Carol and Joann. A brother, Raymond, preceded him in death.
